Jawahar Bangera – a pupil of Mr BKS Iyengar since 1969, Jawahar Sir was one of the first pupils from Mumbai tasked by Guruji to teach yoga.  Jawahar Sir has accompanied Guruji on countless teaching tours around the world and has conducted a large number of yoga workshops himself in various countries.  He is one of the key drivers of the Light on Yoga Research Trust and remains one of its trustees since inception. The trust was formed more than 30 years ago and is active in promoting the learning and practice of Yoga in the Iyengar method.  Since 2012, Jawahar Sir has been sharing his extensive yoga knowledge in-person or via Zoom with students in Asia pretty much annually, and our studio has been honored to host him regularly.

Sue Everret – Co-Founder, director & senior teacher, at Yoga Jivana, Melbourne, has extensive knowledge of the body gained from her background in classical & modern dance in Australia and Europe that informs her practice at a deep level. Following a spinal injury, Sue returned to Melbourne and was introduced to the healing qualities of Iyengar Yoga.  Sue began teaching yoga in 1991, and enjoys travelling within Australia and overseas to teach yoga and train yoga teachers. To study with her teachers (the late) Mr BKS Iyengar – Guruji, his daughter Geeta Iyengar, and granddaughter Abhijata Iyengar, Sue regularly visits the Iyengar Yoga Institute- RIMYI in Pune, India.  Sue’s interest is to promote a deeper understanding of how to support & nurture a holistic and disciplined yoga practice while incorporating the fundamentals of yogic philosophy. 

Peter Scott - Advance Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, began teaching Iyengar Yoga in 1982 and training teachers in 1990. Co-Founder and Director of Yoga Jivana, based in Melbourne, Peter runs an Iyengar Yoga studio-cum-training school with his wife, Sue.  A past President of the Iyengar Yoga Association of Australia, Peter has been a long-term Assessment Committee member and served as Chair of Assessment Committee 1999-2000 & 2009-2010.  He has taught extensively in Australia, and since 2002 to Hong Kong to give workshops and trainings. Peter’s yoga teaching calls on the subjective, experiential learning drawn from his daily yoga practice as well as objective, knowledge-based studies. He is especially known for his clarity and effectiveness in teaching.

Carrie Owerko - Senior Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, has been practicing yoga for years and is a core faculty member of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York.  She serves as an assessor for the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States.  She travels regularly to India to study with the Iyengar family and has had the honor of co-choreographing and performing in “Live-Light on Life,” a tribute to the life and works of B.K.S. Iyengar at New York City Center, during his 2005 National Book Tour. Before devoting herself to the art and science of yoga, Carrie earned a BFA in Dance and Theater from Loretto Heights College and became a Certified Movement Analyst from the Laban Institute. She has spent years dancing, performing and exploring movement for communication and expression.  She encourages students to enjoy and ‘play’ with yoga in addition to practicing ardently.

Stephane Lalo – Advance Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, has practiced yoga since 1975, the Iyengar method since 1985 after his studies in osteopathy.  He is awarded certification directly by the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute of Pune, India, where he continues to study every year spending two or three months there.  He initiated the Iyengar Yoga Center of Marseille in 1996, trains teachers and gives workshops in France and abroad.  He conducts classes in French and English. Marla Apt - Senior Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, based in Los Angeles where she is on the faculty of the three-year Teacher Training Program of the Iyengar Yoga Association of Southern California.  She has served extensively at the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States. She leads trainings, retreats and intensives throughout the U.S. and abroad including Hong Kong and China.  Marla visited India for the first time while doing research for a degree in Buddhist Philosophy and has since returned numerous times for yoga studies including a year of study in Pune, India with B.K.S. Iyengar, his daughter, Geeta Iyengar and son, Prashant Iyengar. She continues to study annually with the Iyengars, and is named to be one of the most influential yogini in 21st century by Yoga Journal.
